SCRATCHING

SCRATCHING Scratching is a biological necessity for your cat. So you can't really punish her for clawing the furniture, unless you have provided her with an alternative like a scratching post. If your cat has already scratched something, cover it with plastic and she will likely turn to the post instead. When you catch your cat scratching furniture, try squirting her with a water pistol or squirt bottle and use a firm "no." When she scratches her scratching post, reward her with praise.

Well, we tried the "NO" and even the pennines in a can..you know,..shake it at them to scare them away??? Yeah right!!! They both were afraid of the noise the first 2 or 3 times, but after that....forget it..

So, we tried the water pistol, it ALWAYS worked on my other cats..Well, maybe because these are MALE cats & possibly a little thick in the brain..(I've always had females)..anyway, THAT didn't work either, in fact..they kinda liked it!!!

So...............oh yeah, did i mention that we were remodling our kitchen & my office? well, new wood work being put up was a TREAT for them & a very good place for them to stretch their claws..

Within a week our new finished woodwork was shredded..

Our solution????Pieces of plywood doubletaped up to each favorie spot..IT WORKED!!!! Its ugly looking..BUT IT WORKED.

With Cats..if ya can't beat em..join em!! That what we did..gave them what they wanted!!!! Little brats..but we love them anyway!!!!!
